Positions Typical Activities Educational Requirements
Millwright Repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of mechanical process equipment Typically all trade positions hired with Journeyman Trade ticket. To apprentice for one of these trades:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent with a strong math background and a preference for related vocational courses
  • Successful completion of the government entrance exam for the specified trade
  • Mathematics and physics preferred for the instrumentation and electrical trade
  • Corresponding technical/technology certification is an asset
Instrumentation Technician Installation, repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance of measurement and control instruments used in the process areas
Electrician Installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in buildings and process areas to supply heat, light, power, controls, and signal or fire alarms
