ARCEL resin can be recycled with polystyrene (PS) and expandable polystyrene (EPS) under the SPI identification code #6. The SPI system specifies that multi-materials are labeled based on compatibility. ARCEL resin is recognized by SPI as resin identification code #6 because it is readily compatible with polystyrene (PS) and is easily recycled in either the expanded or thermoplastic segments of the PS industry.
Labeling based on compatibility ensures that any and all compatible materials have the opportunity to be recycled. Many multi-component materials are labeled this way, including rubber modified PS, flame retardant grades of EPS and colored PS materials. By adding ARCEL resin to the thermoplastics segment of the PS, the recycling steam can actually improve the physical properties of the PS.

Members of the Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers (AFPR) in North America are capable of recycling ARCEL resin. Visit www.epspackaging.org to locate a drop-off location nearest you, or follow the mail-back option directions below.
Remember that ARCEL resin is made of 95% air, which results in low shipping costs.
- Make sure the polystyrene (PS) is clean and free of any plastic film, loose parts or glued-on cardboard.
- To increase the amount of PS in each shipping container, it can be easily broken or cut into smaller pieces so that more foam can fit in individual boxes. AFPR will also recycle the corrugated boxes used to ship the PS.
- Prepare shipping label and affix postage for delivery to:
