Advanced SCLAIRTECH, NOVA Chemicals' solution polyethylene technology, is just one of many exciting breakthroughs our team has made across the spectrum of our customer-focused research and development efforts. This technology has been developed entirely within NOVA Chemicals and is now showing a significant positive impact on NOVA Chemicals' business.

The performance of an LLDPE resin (FPs117-C) produced using NOVA Chemicals' proprietary single-site catalyst and Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology, is compared to a well known competitive metallocene LLDPE in a specialty film application:

Note the enhanced performance of the resin manufactured with NOVA Chemicals' proprietary single-site catalyst. Of particular interest is the improved processability of the NOVA Chemicals resin.

The following compares the characteristics of a product rotomolded from a resin produced using Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology and NOVA Chemicals' single-site catalyst (RMs539-U), to that of a commercial hexene copolymer:

Rotomolding resins produced using Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology and NOVA Chemicals' single-site catalyst exhibit better and more balanced properties, particularly a wider process window and faster cycle time.

Another market where Advanced SCLAIRTECH technology is delivering enhanced performance is in thin wall rigid packaging injection molding resins. Very high flow injection molding resins (IFs932-A) made using new reactor technology and single-site catalysts, deliver significantly improved performance compared to our own incumbent LLDPE resins based on traditional technology.
